Anxiety

We've Been Doom-Scrolling Since It Was Called 'Reading the News'
Virtual counseling for Gen Xers who are exhausted from decades of low-grade panic and high-grade caffeine

You survived the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and dial-up internet, but nothing prepared you for midlife being sandwiched between your parents' failing health and your children's uncertain future while your own body rebels with panic and a mind that won't stop racing. The difficulty concentrating during important conversations, the way small uncertainties trigger waves of nausea, the bone-deep exhaustion that comes from constantly worrying about everyone but yourself, is unfathomable. You're carrying everyone else's weight on your shoulders while your mind races. Anxiety is hardest in those quiet moments; You are constantly on edge with a knot in your stomach, your shoulders are always tense, you're not falling apart, you're holding everyone together, while anxiety increasingly takes over your body and mind.(?) through endless "what-ifs and whys" at 3 AM like when your partner is sleeping but you’re lying awake, rationalizing why the two of you are not having sex. You are stress-eating at midnight while mentally rehearsing tomorrow's difficult conversation with your investors.

You were raised on a "figure it out yourself" mentality. You grew up troubleshooting adult decisions you weren't ready for and an array of devices, so naturally, you've Googled "how to stop anxiety," bookmarking articles you never quite remember when panic actually strikes. You've tried everything from cutting caffeine (lasted a day), your Amazon cart is full of anxiety solutions—magnesium supplements, weighted blankets, and that book about mindfulness that's been "saved for later" since 2018. You've color-coded calendars, tried yoga (twice), and convinced yourself that the right morning routine would make you stop catastrophizing, but anxiety keeps showing up anyway, laughing at your perfectly curated coping mechanisms.

Unfortunately, anxiety doesn't take returns or come with customer service; it just leaves you more frustrated than when you started this DIY healing journey.Picture this: Not being anxious will feel like finding that perfect mixtape you thought you'd lost forever—suddenly, your mind has a soundtrack of peace instead of the constant static of worry. It's waking up and realizing you've slept through the night without your brain hijacking your rest with tomorrow's catastrophes. It's your limbs feeling loose and relaxed, it's going days without tension headaches or pain from stiff, hunched shoulders. Moving through your life like you're twenty-two again but with better taste in wine and coffee. It’s peace and relaxation flowing without permission slips from your anxiety, or from the feeling that you're disappointing some invisible productivity board because you aren't on standby for your loved ones' next crisis.   Being unstuck from anxiety is like your brain finally processing thoughts cleanly without that constant buffering of "what if" scenarios and stress of taking care of everyone.

Gen X, the path you are navigating is not meant to be walked alone; you need a Jedi to guide you, someone who lived through the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with over a decade of experience counseling adults wrestling with anxiety.  Having a Sandwich Generation therapist means there's instant recognition that someone will get you! It means not being judged for being bilingual in sarcasm and using humor as a defense mechanism.

Trust me, I know that sometimes the best therapy happens when we can laugh at the absurdity of adulting while our teenage angst playlist plays softly in the background. I get that your "overthinking" is actually hypervigilance born from real experience, and I won't try to convince you to just "think positive" when you've seen too much to buy into toxic optimism.  Together, we'll unpack how growing up in the '70s, ’80s, and ’90s created this perfect storm of overthinking, second-guessing our own instincts, and a constant state of panic. You'll finally feel seen by someone who knows the weight of carrying everyone else's expectations while your own dreams got deferred."The approach we will use will honor your hard-earned skepticism while helping you distinguish between protective awareness and paralyzing worry.  I understand how our generation learned to anticipate problems before they happened just to survive. I will not waste your time with generic anxiety treatment—instead, I work with the reality of the exhausting responsibility of holding everyone else together. My therapy style cuts through the wellness industry fluff to address what's really driving your sleepless nights: the bone-deep fatigue of being constantly on guard for thirty-plus years without anyone acknowledging the weight you've been carrying. When you work with me, you'll finally have someone who gets that your anxiety is a security blanket—an intelligent response that once served you well and can now be donated to make room to move forward into the peace and confidence you earned.
